Karen’s KIND was founded by Monique & Henry Monelle in Bristol, UK. We are both ex-meat eaters turned vegan, and rescuing and caring for the animals has helped us to build a life guided by our values.
We are currently (Fall 2026) home to 19 chickens, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 4 rabbits and 2 pigs. (Everyone, including the cats, is plant based).
We started with 3 ex-commercial egg laying chickens and after only a few years reached full capacity at the microsanctuary.
We then registered as a charity and began helping animals living elsewhere, particularly at much larger sanctuaries, by providing vet visits and caretaking training for chickens and also taking in special cases for rehabilitation (and sometimes rehoming).
The primary focus is chickens but we do, on occasion take in orphaned/rejected lambs during the overwhelming lambing season.
